EXERCISE 1 – CHARACTER STUDY

The Brief: INDIVIDUAL: 2 KEY CHARACTERS
Each individual student is to read the above storybooks and do a character study on 2 key characters.
The 2 key characters are:
- Mr Twit or Mrs Twit
- The Little Prince
1.1- Write a 1 sentence summary for the story “The Twits” & “The Little Prince”.
1.2- Do a character bio for the 2 key characters in point form. You can even feature a mind map or a visual sketch representation of the key characters to support your notes.
1.3- Then, write about 500 words, double spaced, telling me how we can easily identify them as key characters in the story and why are these characters so crucial to the story. Is the author successful using these characters to tell his story? Support your answer with reasons why you think the author is successful or not successful. Each character write up should be about 500 words and should only contain your ideas and analysis of the character. (use your own words to express YOUR thoughts on the characters)

The Twit
1 sentence summary:
A husband with a hairy beard has a bad habit and a wife having terrifying belief and ended up as an unattractive old hag which made her grew uglier day by day passed.
Key Character:
The wife is a Twit Evil woman who used a walking stick to hit dogs and children.
The husband is being dirty, using his beard wipes off the stains with the back of his hand or on his sleeves. He never gets hungry. He is a wicked man who always plays trick and kill the animal. He trick his wife to get back at her. Wicked woman who plays tricks on her husband to get back at him.
500 words: “The Twits”
Mr and Mrs twit are easily recognized as the key character in the story as the story always tell
us how they pranks others and their evil heart.
Mr and Mrs twit are crucial to the story as they are two evil married couple that does those
wicked things to the animal and how the poor animal get revenge after being badly tortured
by the evil couple.
The author is successful in telling the story with this two character as he tell us how evil of
them torture those animal and their tricks. It had a wonderful ending and make us
remembered how the evil couple got their punishment.
One of the part that I can remember are Mr twit is evil and sickening as he had long and thick
beard stuck with the leftover food, sauce and gravy and the trick that he plays on his wife.
Mrs twit, were sickening as she had a walking stick not because she couldn't walk properly
but because she wanted to use it for hitting children and dogs.
Another part that reminds me how evil the twits are as they wants to have bird pie every week.
The process of having it were evil. They put glue on a tree and wait for birds to sit on the tree
and when the birds died of hunger as they were trapped, the twits will bake them into pies.
They also prank the monkey cruelly as they forced the monkey upside down for long hours
just to enjoying how the monkey got suffer. This shows the wicked side of human that might
be in real world.
The author had made the story being successfully as he is creative of telling as the process
pranks and the evil heart of the character, that allows the readers to dislike the behaviour of
the character. The part the animal took their revenge were interesting. They treat them as bad
as bad as what the evil couple does to them. This allows the animal the gain back their
freedom and their peaceful life in the end which make us feel delightful.
The Little Prince
1 sentence summary:
The author bring the little prince to seven planets apart from his own.
Key Character:
The Little Prince is a mystical and loveable person. He is the only resident of a small planet, which the narrator refers to as B-612. The Prince leaves his planet to visit other places and finally lands on Earth. In the Sahara Desert, he meets the narrator and befriends with him. The narrator tells the prince that he encounter those things which relates the adventures of the Prince on the other planets he visit.
500 words: “The Little Prince”
As the main characters always appeal in every part of the story. This can easily identify them
as key characters in the story.
From the part of the prince wants the author to draw a sheep and it turn out in other picture in
the and the author draw a box and told him that the sheep was kept inside the box and then
the prince accepted the painting which made the author puzzled. This tell us that the prince
has a unusual view then normal working adults.
Another reason would be when the part that the prince when the planet of the Lamplighter
The lamplighter lives on asteroid 329 and does the job of lighting and then putting out the
lamplight. The lamplighter thinks that his is a terrible profession, because once every minute
he has to light the lamp, for his planet makes a complete turn every sixty seconds. The Prince
feels that the lamplighter is the only one who could have been his friend.
Than the prince when to another and the rest if other planets. This are the evidently that tell
us the prince is the key character.
The reason of these characters are so crucial to the story as he is the only one who will tell as
how in landed to earth and meet the narrator to befriend, from then he lead us to the
adventure to the other seven planets.
It is a successful story that the author used these characters to tell his story as tell us how this
society were lead people to have a difference mind set and it is unusual to think like the
prince as he had a different thoughts from us towards this society. The author of this book
brought out unusual understanding in the society through the little prince.
